Ingredients

  • 1 ⅓ cups Whole milk
  • 4 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • ½ cup Granulated sugar
  • 5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup Light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons Cinnamon powder
  • ¾ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ cup Heavy cream
  • 4 oz Cream cheese
  • ¼ cup Unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Icing sugar

Instructions

  • Warm the milk in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds until it reaches a temperature between 100 and 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Add the yeast and whisk. Let it rest for 10 minutes until foamy.
  • Mix in the sugar, flour, eggs, salt, and butter into the yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.
  • Knead the dough by hand or with a stand mixer until it is smooth and stretchy (about 8 to 10 minutes). The dough should feel soft and elastic.
  • Lightly oil a bowl, place the dough inside, cover, and let it rise for 60 to 90 minutes until it doubles in size.

Filling and Shaping

  • In a separate bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until well combined and smooth.
  • Line a baking pan with parchment paper. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it into a rectangle shape. Spread the filling over the dough and cut it into strips.
  • Roll each strip into a cinnamon roll shape and place them in the prepared baking tray. Cover and let rise for another 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Pour heavy cream over the rolls before baking. Bake for 22 to 25 minutes until tops are golden brown.

Icing and Serving

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together cream cheese, butter, heavy cream, and icing sugar until smooth and creamy.
  • Spread icing onto the warm rolls after they come out of the oven. Serve fresh and enjoy!

Notes

  • Plan ahead to prepare the dough and filling the night before and refrigerate overnight for a fresh bake in the morning.
  • Use room temperature ingredients for better integration.
