Ingredients

  • 3 large Eggs
  • ¼ cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 cups Whole Milk
  • 3 ⅔ cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Fine Sea Salt
  • N/A Oil for Frying Enough to fill 3 inches in your skillet.
  • N/A Powdered Sugar
  • N/A Fresh Whipped Cream Optional
  • N/A Sliced Strawberries Optional

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar together until smooth.
  • Add in the whole milk and whisk until well combined to create a smooth base for your batter.
  • Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to the bowl, stirring until all ingredients are just combined. A few lumps in the batter are fine.
  • Heat approximately 3 inches of oil in a deep skillet or electric fryer to 350°F.
  • Transfer the batter into pastry bags or ziplock bags, cutting off the tip.
  • Squeeze the batter into the hot oil in a circular motion. Fry for about 2 minutes until golden brown, then flip and fry for another 2 minutes.
  • Place the cooked funnel cakes on a wire rack to drain excess oil.
  • Serve warm with a dusting of powdered sugar, and top with whipped cream and slices of strawberries if desired.

Notes

  • Keep the oil hot for even frying. Use a bag for easy drizzling of batter.
  • Fry only one or two funnel cakes at a time to maintain oil temperature.
  • Experiment with toppings like chocolate sauce or caramel for extra flavor.
