Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 2 cups Long-Grain White Rice
  • 1 cube Chicken-Flavored Bouillon
  • 4 cups Water or Low-Sodium Chicken Broth
  • 1 can (8-ounce) Tomato Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Minced Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin Imparts warm
  • a dash Garlic Pepper
  • to taste Chopped Fresh Cilantro (optional) For garnish.

Instructions

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat until it shimmers.
  • Add the rice to the pan and cook, stirring frequently for about 5 minutes until lightly golden brown.
  • In a separate microwave-safe container, combine the bouillon cube and water. Heat in the microwave for 3 minutes to dissolve the bouillon.
  • Once the rice is browned, carefully pour in the heated bouillon mixture. Add the tomato sauce, salt, minced garlic, cumin, and garlic pepper. Stir to combine.
  • Cover the pan and let it simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the rice is tender and all liquid has absorbed.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork and sprinkle with chopped cilantro if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For deeper flavor, replace water with chicken broth.
  • Stir frequently while browning the rice to avoid burning.
  • Adjust spices to preference.
  • Add cilantro just before serving for freshness.
